The pre-class dinner solution has been solved! And just in time for the last class of the semester. While walking to class after parking in a different location, I passed by this door and as I did, I happened to catch out of the corner of my eye that there were people sitting and eating. It all happened so fast, I didn’t really think much of it until a few steps later when I realized – THEY WERE EATING FOOD!
I turned around quickly and entered the so far nameless establishment. Actually, to call it an establishment would be a severe overstatement. This place put the word ‘dive’ in Drive-ins Diners and Dives (a popular show on the Food Network). It was a small hallway of a place with one person working. The fact that there were 6 others in the place helped my confidence. Actually, the 6 people filled the place up. As I walked in, the sole person working brought me a cup and told me to help myself to a coke! What service!
Browsing the menu, as I sipped my coke, I couldn’t decide on any of the numerous hot dog choices. I asked a customer for his recommendation and was told, “get the drive-in dog”. Done! One drive-in dog please. One minute and $4 later I was leaving with dog in hand still trying to figure out the name of the place I had just trusted to nourish my body for the evening.
As I ate in the classroom, I was telling my story to a classmate and they said, “You mean The Wienery?” I blinked and nodded. There it is – The Wienery. After a little internet research, I found out that this place has been around since 1980. It has won the best hot dog award for two years in a row (2008 and 2009) and, no joke, has been featured in Drive-ins Diners and Dives on the Food Network!
Well, after finding out that many classmates haven’t been here for years, I organized a little pre-final-test cram session for next Wednesday…and the cramming is referring to the hot dogs, not the studying!

Patrick! This just made my entire night. =)
Bjork and I are laughing.
